Do Dolls Dream of Plush Sheep?
Text is from the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick on page 214. This ones got a weird effect on it! I copied the entire picture onto another layer, gausian blurred it, chromatic abberationed it, and put it at 40% opacity. I think it looks pretty cool.

Valrik: Weird Zombie Edition
Design Notes:
- his bones are really wires twisted and weaved together into the right shapes. in this drawing i made it all a solid color because thats how it would appear from far away and its just simpler. i would like to not want to die every time i draw his bones, you know? and i think more detail would stand out too much in this specific drawing.
- i made his first ghostly appearance like this for two reasons: the first is to show off his wire bones because theyre pretty unique, and the second is that valrik is the only one of the ghosts that spends any significant time around his own corpse. kyrell's body was burned, mayvally and dachsavier's bodies were turned into shadow and goop respectively, kingsly's was buried, and harbor just walked away from hers. valrik on the other hand was stuck with no one but his own rotting corpse for company for three hundred years. i figured it would affect him somewhat.
- i used several different animal skeletons as reference to make him, including a human for his arms and hands, a cat for his head, a bird for his wing, and a combination of cat and velociraptor for his feet and legs. on the subject of his legs, most of the time i draw him valrik is digitigrade which means hes actually standing on his toes and the whole part of his legs not covered by his pants are actually the rest of his feet! i just thought that was interesting. i do draw him plantigrade sometimes because i use humans as reference for him on those occasions and its just easier and looks more natural to have more human like legs.
- hes a little scrawnier in this design compared to his normal one. its because its mostly just bone under there.
- the hole in his chest is heart shaped because his heart was torn out when he died. his ribs are broken there for the same reason. his bony wing is crooked because of another injury he suffered at death. in dead whispers he starts looking less spooky the more time he spends around bog, when that happens he gets his other eye back, all of his fur, his cloths are repaired, and his wing is no longer crooked, but theres still a chunk of feathers missing.

No One Lives Forever!
Tried something new with this one. I'm not sure I liked it, but I'm glad I did something different. Because Valrik is more arts and crafts project than biological animal, his "bones" are really wire, twisted and weaved together into the right shapes. Strip away the fabric and stuffing and you get a more detailed version of the wire frame a clay sculpture might have.

Cut Your Strings
This was mainly a test for this kind of rendering. It took so long I'm not sure if I'm going to attempt it again. I use a lot of puppet motifs when it comes to Valrik, hence the strings.

Valrik 8
A transparent drawing of my character, Valrik. He is vastly important to several of my stories, but is primarily in Dead Whispers. A lot of my drawings I just titled "[character name] doodle [number]" so that's why this is titled Valrik 8. Its the eighth Valrik doodle.
